A 34-year-old woman who was left with a broken leg after being shoved onto a Manhattan subway track told The Post Wednesday the random attack has left her so distressed — she now fears ever taking the train again.

The victim, Wan Xu, ended up on the roadbed at the Chambers Street station in lower Manhattan late Tuesday after a stranger in a dirty red sweatshirt suddenly rammed her from behind without saying a word, cops and police sources said.

“I was already afraid to take the train because of this happening,” a rattled Xu said as she recovered from her Sunset Park, Brooklyn, apartment.

“I don’t know how I’ll ever take the train in the future.”

The frightening, unprovoked attack unfolded just moments after Xu had stepped onto the platform of the Nos. 1/2/3 trains just after 11 p.m., the victim and police said.

The married mother-of-one, who was heading home after finishing work at a nearby foot massage salon, recalled being about three feet from the edge of the platform when she suddenly felt a “great force.”

“This was really terrible because I didn’t have any warning at the time,” Xu said. “He suddenly pushed me down with all his strength from behind. I was very scared.”

After quickly realizing she couldn’t stand due to her fractured leg, Xu said she frantically started checking to make sure the train wasn’t heading straight for her.

“I was worried about the arrival of the train. I tried my best to get out,” she recalled.

As her attacker fled, fellow straphangers rushed to the woman’s aid and pulled her back onto the platform, law enforcement sources said.

“There were a lot of people next to me and they pulled me out,” Xu said, adding she had to “endure the pain” as she was lifted off the tracks.

She was brought to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital where doctors confirmed a leg fracture, Xu said.

“They scanned my leg at the hospital. The doctor told me that it was a fracture. I’m taking painkillers now. I can’t lift the leg up,” she said, with her limb bandaged and bound in an immobilizer.

It was reported to police that on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at approximately 2255 hours, an unknown individual approached a 34-year-old female victim from behind, on the southbound platform of the Chambers Street MTA '1'train station. The individual pushed the victim onto the tracks and then fled out of the train station. The victim was transported by EMS to New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital to be treated for a fracture to her leg.
Suspect wore a dirty red sweatshirt, tan work boots and was described as having a light complexion and dark hair.

Xu, who said she doesn’t have medical insurance, added that doctors warned her she’d need surgery to reset the bone properly.

“I called the hospital today and they told me I had to pay all the expenses by myself,” the victim said.

Xu said she never got a look at the creep.

“I think this person must be crazy,” she said, adding that police have yet to give her any updates about the suspect.

In addition to the dirty red sweatshirt, cops said the attacker also wore tan work boots and was described as having a light complexion and dark hair.
